Our Whitney Point Eagles at the Tioughnioga Riverside Academy gave their STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math - skills a workout during Engineering Days at Broome-Tioga BOCES on November 19 and 20, 2025.

Middle School Engineering Day - November 19

A total of 17 TRA students in grades 6 - 8 enjoyed the middle school engineering day event . They were tasked with creating a complex method to transfer energy from objects to have a ball land on a target. Working as teams, our groups brainstormed, designed and executed a way to slow energy transfers with random objects.

Elementary Engineering Day – November 20

We also sent five talented teams of third through fifth graders to the 2025 Elementary Engineering Day. Students were challenged to design and build their own Rube Goldberg machines - creative contraptions engineered to accomplish a simple task through the most steps possible. Teams worked collaboratively to plan, test, and refine their designs, incorporating as many energy transfers as they could imagine.

During the event, each group presented their machine to a panel of judges, explaining their process and highlighting the science behind their energy transfers.

This annual event at BOCES provided two exciting days of problem-solving, innovation and hands-on engineering for our young creators!
