Whitney Point’s National Honor Society is once again sponsoring a Blood Drive on Wednesday April 6th from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm in the High School Auditorium. As always, donors are encouraged to sign up for an appointment during a study hall and this should not be used as an opportunity to skip tests, quizzes, classwork, etc. Honor Society members will be scheduling appointments during the lunch periods this week, or interested donors can come see Mr. Ellerson.

Students in Mrs. Whalen’s PreK class are working hard this week on their self-portraits!

TAKE A LOOK: The Community Service Club worked at Binghamton CHOW this week addressing food scarcity needs in our local community. They worked as a team to bag hundreds of pounds of food to be used at local food pantries and soup kitchens. Nice job!

Students taking Mr. Leet's SUNY Broome Physics class at the high school got to go sledding for their Physics class last Thursday. Students measured the length of the hill and then took time measurements of students going down the hill. The class compared the sledding times of using a sled vs using just your snow suit. Of course, with a sled, it's a much faster and exciting ride down the hill. Using the measurements calculations of acceleration, net Force, and friction coefficients can be determined. In the end, the snowsuit has a higher friction coefficient which is why you go slower down the hill. Sledding is a great application of many Physics concepts. Students got hands-on experience measuring physics quantities.

ATHLETICS: Lauryn Nichols will compete in the Section IV Indoor Track & Field State Qualifier Championships participating in the triple jump on Saturday, February 25th at Barton Hall Cornell University at 12:00 pm.

GOLDEN EAGLES: On Thursday, our students participated in multiple events during their Pep-Rally. Competitions included musical chairs, blind scootering, and a mismatched shoe relay race. Not to mention some pies to the face!
