Students at Tioughnioga Riverside Academy (TRA) put their curiosity and creativity on display during the school’s annual Science Fairs, held March 4 and 5, 2026.
Students in Grades 6–8 kicked off the event with their own Science Fair on the evening of March 4, welcoming families and community members to explore a variety of student-led research projects and experiments.
The excitement continued on March 5, when fourth- and fifth-grade students presented their projects during an in-school exhibition that students from CEA were able to tour during the school day. Those grade levels also hosted an evening Science Fair so families and community members could view the displays and celebrate the work of TRA’s young scientists.
Visitors to the fairs had the opportunity to learn about a wide range of topics through engaging projects and demonstrations. Among the many exhibits were “Erosion in Motion,” “Potato Power Plant,” “Tickle Plants,” “Crystal Growth,” “Effect of Acid on Gummies,” “The 21-Card Trick,” “Planets & Their Sizes,” “How Fish Breathe Under Water,” “The Human Digestive System,” and “Eggshell Erosion Investigation,” along with creative displays about dinosaurs, mushrooms, marble runs, and even the differences between horns and antlers.
The variety of subjects reflected students’ curiosity about the natural world and highlighted the research, experimentation, and problem-solving skills they developed while preparing their projects.
Local media also took notice of the impressive work on display. A reporter from WICZ-TV visited TRA during the daytime exhibition, interviewing student Bryson about his “Mouse-Trap Cars” project and speaking with Mrs. Stanley about the Science Fair experience for TRA students. From hands-on experiments to in-depth research presentations, the Science Fairs showcased the enthusiasm and dedication of TRA’s budding scientists - demonstrating that discovery and innovation are alive and well in the classrooms of Tioughnioga Riverside Academy.
