Community Schools Initiative

As a Community School, Whitney Point works to build partnerships with families and community organizations in a collaborative effort to support each child's learning and development.
What is a Community School?
A Community School is a partnership among community stakeholders, parents, and schools focused on supporting student development, improving student outcomes, supporting families, and developing strong communities. When schools, families, and communities work together, every component of this partnership can be strengthened and engaged.
In partnership with Binghamton University
Raising Eagles Summer STEAM Event
Our community Schools program held a STEAM camp yesterday at Dorchester Park for members of our Raising Eagles program. They partnered with Binghamton University's Physics Department, which provided STEAM kits. The department's PhD students even built the kits with the kids! Thank you to all who made this a fun, enriching afternoon for our Raising Eagles members.
The Incredible Years Program
The Incredible Years® child programs use dinosaur-themed materials and life-size puppets to engage children and strengthen social, emotional, and academic skills.
The Incredible Years® parenting programs focus on strengthening parenting competencies and fostering parent involvement in children’s school experiences, to promote children’s academic, social and emotional skills and reduce behavioral challenges. Please watch our video below for more info!
