We are writing to inform you of the procedures for mid-year exams that will take place January 22-25, 2019. Whitney Point High School will be following New York State Education Department guidelines to ensure the integrity of our local and state tests. Regents exams begin Tuesday, January 22, 2019 and continue through Friday, January 25, 2019. Several scheduled mid-terms will also be taking place during the four day school week. An exam schedule is located on the back of this letter. All regularly scheduled classes will be held on: Thursday, January 24 and Friday, January 25.
Only students taking a Regents or a scheduled mid-term should be in attendance on Tuesday and Wednesday January 22 & 23, 2019. Throughout the exam week, there are a few important things to note. Buses will run at the normal morning pick-up and afternoon dismissal times. Mid-day buses on Tuesday, January 22nd and Wednesday, January 23rd will be made available for those students take a morning exam with no further tests in the afternoon. Students wishing to take advantage of this mid-day bus must sign-up in the High School Main Office in advance. Breakfast and lunch will be served as normal on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 and Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
All school policies, as outlined in the Student Handbook, will remain in place for the entire exam week. Specifically, the campus will remain closed and students will not be permitted to leave the building unless they have completed their exams for that day. Students who have free time between exams must wait in the cafeteria for their next exam. Students will not be permitted to leave the building and then return to take a later exam. Once students leave the building, they will not be permitted to re-enter later in the day. Entrance doors will be locked, except for the main entrance. Students should only bring the materials they require to take the test or study (writing instruments, calculators, etc.). Due to the photographic capabilities of electronic devices, cellular phones, I-Pads, etc. will not be permitted in the exam areas. Please review this information with your student(s). It is important that all procedures are followed, and we appreciate your support.
