Student Maria Dewey to perform with the 2014 NYSSMA All-State Symphony Orchestra
Maria was chosen from over 300 applicants for only 26 spots, ranking her as one of the top flute players in the entire state - regardless of school size or location. She will rehearse for three days prior to performing in the world renowned Eastman Kodak Theater in Rochester. She had the honor of being in the 2013 NYSSMA All-State Symphonic Band last year ... thus making her a two-time music state champion. For the last two years, Maria has received a perfect score of 6A+100 on her flute solo. Due to the tough competition ranking players, the committee is sometimes required to look at grades as far back as middle school. In addition to her flute successes, Maria was also given a second nod to the All-State Band on piccolo and was given a designation as alternate based on her perfect score.

In addition, we are also proud to announce that Holden LaPadula was honored with the designation of alternate on tenor saxophone to the 2014 All-State Symphonic Band. Should an accepted student not be able to fulfill their duties, he could be called upon at any time to fill their spot. Holden received this honor by receiving a 6A+100 on his NYSSMA solo.
