The Community Schools at Whitney Point currently participates in the BUS Bucks program at the elementary and middle school levels with students identified as having attendance, behavioral or other issues. The BUS Bucks program gives students a feeling of empowerment and control by helping them set goals and providing incentives for achieving the goals. Goals may address chronic absenteeism, behavior or any issue that is hindering academic success.
Incentive rewards can be sporting goods, gift cards to local businesses, tickets to sporting events, or other items selected by the student. BUS Bucks is a collaborative effort among Binghamton University Community Schools, Kim Myers, Dick's Sporting Goods and several local school districts.
