It's no secret in Whitney Point that this season, the Lady Eagles battled their way to the 2022 NYSPHSAA Class C Championships. However, November 21, 2022 is a date that will honor their winning for years to come.
On Monday morning, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and District 9 County Legislature Matthew Hilderbrant visited the high school.
Following a parade around the halls of the building, Legislature Hilderbrant presented each of the student athletes with a certificate of recognition.
The County Executive then made his proclamation that the date of November 21, 2022 will forever be known as 'Whitney Point Field Hockey Day' in Broome County.
As Garnar spoke with the students, he said " Whitney Point is at the point where it's just weird if you don't win".
He continued, "you have not only made Whitney Point proud, but the entirety of Broome County... you put Whitney Point on the map".
At the end of the ceremony each girl received a special shirt.
