COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Information & Updates

While Whitney Point CSD does not have a confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus, we are closely monitoring the situation and following recommended cleaning protocols and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the New York State Department of Health, the New York State Education Department and the Broome County Health Department.
The district has set up this webpage to provide accurate, timely information and updates related to COVID-19 and our community.
3/14/2020- Important
Broome County has ordered all schools in the county to be closed for students from March 16th to April 14th.  In Whitney Point this includes all students in Prek3 to 12th grade at all school locations in the district. This website will be updated regularly with information for families.
Please see the Broome County press release here.

Do Your Part

There are a number of steps that students, staff and community members can take to minimize the spread of all respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Heavily soiled hands should be washed.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
